Welcome to the Spruce Goose Café, a beloved institution in Port Townsend, now with new ownership but the same great traditions. Our café, nestled by the Jefferson County International Airport, has been a community hub and a favorite stop for pilots and locals alike since the 1960s. Known for our delicious homemade pies, soups, and classic diner fare, we pride ourselves on offering a warm and inviting atmosphere.
For the past 25 years, Andrea Raymor and Chris Cray have been the heart and soul of the Spruce Goose Café. Under their stewardship, the café flourished, becoming renowned for its friendly service and mouth-watering dishes. When the time came for them to pass the torch, they found the perfect successors in three of their dedicated staff members who understand the essence of what makes the Spruce Goose special.
On July 1, Kathryn McKenney, Vanessa McKenney, and Ashley Owen took over the reins of the café. All three women have deep roots in Port Townsend and have been integral to the café’s operations for years. Kathryn and Vanessa, sisters who started as waitresses in 2020, now manage daily operations and customer service. Ashley, who began as a dishwasher in 2013 and quickly rose to become the café’s cook, continues to oversee the kitchen, ensuring the quality and tradition of our famous pies.
The transition to new ownership has been seamless, thanks to the mentoring and ongoing support from Andrea and Chris. They have ensured that the recipes, including the cherished pie recipes passed down from Ila Bishop through generations, remain unchanged. This continuity guarantees that our customers will continue to enjoy the same delicious food that has made the Spruce Goose a favorite for decades.
While we cherish our traditions, we are also excited about the future. The new ownership team is committed to maintaining the café’s charm while introducing thoughtful enhancements based on customer feedback. Plans include ramping up our marketing efforts with a new website and social media presence, among other things.
